3 THINGS TO SKIP ON YOUR TRIP TO ICELAND
HELLO EVERYONE! I’m back again with another Iceland post! It seems Iceland has become a very popular destination for travelers. After exploring the breath taking mountains and glaciers I now see why! Before we headed to Iceland I tried to do as much research as possible. I really wanted to experience as much as I could in the two weeks we were there.
After a week in the beautiful country I made up a list of things that were an amazing experience, and things that I thought got magically enhanced by social media. Today I’m sharing my top 3 least favorite spots in Iceland.
1. THE BLUE LAGOON
I’ve heard so many different opinions on the blue lagoon and I was really hoping I’d fall in love with it. Unfortunately, it was not as magical as social media made it out to be. Yes, the water is a beautiful shade of blue, the lava rocks are stunning, the swim up bar is amazing, and the face masks are to die for. What really ruined the experience for me was the amount of people there. We stayed for 4 hours, off season, towards the end of the night when there’s supposed to be less people. Between the construction going on and the large amount of people it felt like we had no where to go and relax. (Blog post on my full experience coming soon).
Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland where a lot of people visit. It was a beautiful little city but I personally feel like there are so many other cities in Iceland worth exploring.
3. THE GOLDEN CIRCLE
GASP. Yes the golden circe is also not what it’s cracked up to be. Maybe I feel like this because we got spoiled by the secluded farms and beautiful glaciers beforehand. Or maybe, it’s due to the fact that the golden circle was filled with tour bus among tour bus. The golden circle was not as enjoyable as everyone made it out to be. We stayed in the golden circle for 4 days and managed to cover it in about two days.
That’s it for this weeks post! I’d LOVE to hear from you! If you’ve been to Iceland or are planning to go tell me what you think in the comments below!
