AHHHH SUMMER. Sun stays out longer, skin glows, hair get’s lighter, and everyone seem a bit happier. My favorite part of summer is relaxing at the beach with friends and family. I’ve learned the key to a good beach day is to pack what you need in just two bags. I know I know. You have two hands so why bring more than two bags. I’ve figured out the key items needed for a long day in the sun and how to properly pack them. Today I’m sharing my beach bag essentials.
WHAT’S IN MY BEACH BAG 2018
The beach bag that I use is the L.L. BEAN BOAT & TOTE in the size large. This bag is perfect for the beach because of the canvas material and the zipper on top keeps everything in. I highly recommend this bag to every beach or boat goer.
The first thing I pack in my beach bag is towels (obvi). My beach bag can fit 3 to 4 large towels perfectly. I like to get my towels from TJMAXX. Usually I go for the Tommy Bahama or Ralph Lauren towels because the quality is amazing.
On top of my towels I keep 2 neoprene pouches. In the first LARGE pouch I keep a few bottles of sunscreen and my coconut oil hair spray. First let me take the time to talk about the importance of using sunscreen. There is no safe way to tan. You can still wear SPF 30 and get a good tan for the summer. Please please please don’t wear anything less. We all need protection from the sun regardless of how dark we are. And please remember to load up on sunscreen every half hour 😩. Next I want to talk about my favorite product (aside from sunscreen) to use at the beach. Coconut oil spray by OGX. Sun salt, saltwater, and even chlorine can do some serious damage to your hair. I love to keep my hair moisturized and glossy with this spray.
In the second SMALL pouch I keep my backup pair of sunglasses, head phones, money, and my cellphone. My number one tip for the beach is to store your phone in a ziplock bag. You can still use your phone perfectly through it and it keeps the sand and water off of your phone. I also keep a few tubes of lip balm in my small pouch. I ALWAYS burn my lips unless I’m wearing chapstick with SFP 25 or higher. Once again it’s so important to keep your skin safe from the sun. Make sure you keep some chapstick in in your bag too. My top three kinds of chapstick perfect or the beach are Jack black, sun bum, and coola.
I also like to keep a BIG bottle of water and a few snacks in my beach bag. You can never go wrong with popcorn. Especially if it’s pipsnacks 😍. Finally, I like to keep a hat or two in my bag. If I’m going to be at the beach for more than 2 hours I try to cover up for a little while and once again keeping my face (and lips) safe from the sun is important.
